In poker, nothing can be worse than the cards not flipping in your favour and getting badly beaten right...?? Well... WRONG!! Last night the Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered here at Piggs Peak Poker again and one lucky player won a small fortune for taking that bad beat. Best of all is that everyone else that participated in the same hand, got more than their fair share of the loot too. Here’s how the action went down: 6 players sat down at Burn n Turn, a R1/R2 cash table and Lady Luck dealt them the following cards:
MethodMan: 7c-Kd electrolx 1: 4h-6h jcg: 5c-Ac illuminati: Kc-9c ELCAMINO: Qd- Qs johnny 1: Js-Ah
Preflop: jcg had the dealer button and iIluminati posted the small blind (R1.00). ELCAMINO posted the big blind (R2.00) and johnny1 called for R2.00. MethodMan folded. electrolx 1 raised for R10.00 and iIluminati; ELCAMINO and johnny1 called.
Flop: The flop showed a Qh-Jc-10c. iIluminati who now held a straight, bet R50.00. ELCAMINO went all-in for R50.05 with his 3-of-a-Kind. johnny1 and electrolx 1 folded. jcg then also went all-in for R15.48,hoping to hit a nut flush. iIluminati called the R0.05.
Turn and River: The board showed a 6s and another Qc. By now, ELCAMINO had to be very excited that he had a 4-of-a-Kind, Queens, but to his surprise, iIluminati showed down a Straight Flush, winning the pot!!
Fortunately ELCAMINO’s disappointment didn’t last long as the players realised this hand triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot of almost R200k, which was divided amongst all of them. This is how the stash of cash was split:
MethodMan, who had a balance of R190.65, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,303.52 electrolx 1, who had a balance of R331.68, also won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,303.52 jcg, who had a balance of zero, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12303.52 johnny 1 won a Bad Beat Amount of R12303.52 iIluminati who had a balance of R233.53, won a Bad Beat Amount of R49214.10
And ELCAMINO, who was on the receiving end of that nasty Bad Beat, won the largest portion of R98428.21!!

I think the whole structure of the bad beat should be changed as it is obviously favouring the smaller tables. Its easy to call draws when somebody goes in R50, but when the call is for R300 or R1000 it hardly gets done. Playing bigger tables is currently just a booster for small tables to cash big. My take anyway

Proving that it doesn’t take years to become a poker millionaire, 24-year old Jeff Madson’s latest victory at the Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event which concluded last Friday escalated his poker earnings to more than $3 Million!
The prestigious poker event attracted an impressive 766 poker players, including seasoned poker pro’s to the likes of Kathy Liebert; Tom Marchese; Dan Shak; David Williamns; Bill Gazes and Matt Matros, but Madsen featured in the top ranks from early on in the tournament and managed to stay there.
He eventually went heads up with Jamshidi, but took the a 2:1 chip lead an hour after heads-up play commenced already. The final blow came shortly after when Jamshidi went All-In, holding a . Madsen naturally called with his , and sent Jamshidi home as runner-up when the board delivered the pair of Cowboys he needed.
Madsen crashed onto the poker scene at the tender age of 21, but already boasts 2 WSOP Bracelets; more than 35 cashes and as mentioned before, millions in winnings. And there’s clearly no stopping him now!

Aussie Millions: Champion Defends Title

The Aussie Millions Main Event Championship title has once again gone to dynamic 23 year old Australian Tyron Krost. With a final table that included the likes of Annette Obrestad and Sorel Mizzi and a player field of 746 of the world’s best, Krost proved that luck has nothing to do with his phenomenal performance.
On the final hand, the title could have gone either way. Krost held Ks, 9d and Frederik Jensen held Kd and 9s. Jensen waited for the flop (Ks, 3h, 2d) to push all in. The river would give neither players a chance to improve on their pair of Kings, but the 9 kicker proved to be all that Krost needed to claim the crown.
The top eight spots belong to:
Tyron Krostin first place with $2,000,000 Frederik Jensenin second place with $1,100,000 Sorel Mizzi in third place with $715,000 Kosta Varoxis in fourth place with $450,000 Peter Jetten in fifth place with $350,000 Steve Friedlander in sixth spot with $250,000 Annette Obrestad in seventh place with $175,000 And Stephen Shelly in eighth place with $125,000
Congrats to all players who achieved success and better luck next time to the players who had a tough tournament. Stay tuned for more news on the international poker scene.
