November 10, 2009. Tom “durrrr” Dwan, one of the most feared high stakes online poker players in the world, has just outdone himself by issuing a poker challenge that has never been seen before. Dwan offered to put up a jaw-dropping $1.5 million dollars to a “mere” $500k of any other opponent brave enough to take him on, by playing heads-up at four tables concurrently, for 50,000 hands.
The challenge stipulates that once the last hand has been played, the player who is in the chip lead at that point in time, will win- even if that player leads by a measly $1. Should “durrrr” triumph, he gets to keep the winnings he accumulated during the challenge as well as his competitor’s $500k. Should the other contender win however, he/she will keep his own spoils as well as that jaw-dropping $1.5 million of Dwan.
Whilst the offer is tempting, most online poker players will think twice about taking on Dwan. However, a few pro’s who have rightfully earned the reputation of being formidable themselves, have already decided to face up to it. They are David Benyamine; Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius who formerly managed to beat “durrrr” during a high stakes cash game at the 2009 Aussie Millions. Question is... would YOU have been brave enough to take on THIS poker challenge...??

9 November 2009. There are only 2 players standing at the 2009 Word Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, Darvin Moon and Joe Cada, who are both complete newcomers on the poker scene. And although Cada will be going into final heads-up play, anything is possible and the jury is still out as to who will finally be crowned as the World Poker Champion for 2009.
Moon is a normal run of the mill kind of guy who owns a logging business. But he was instantly catapulted into poker stardom this year when he managed to reach the final table of the WSOP Main Event.
Cada’s rise to the top of the poker world is also short of miraculous as his only other significant cash was at one of the side events of the 2009 WSOP itself. Should he manage to win, he will beat Phil Hellmuth’s new record for being the youngest ever poker player to win a World Series of Poker Main Event.
To find out which one of these newbies finally claims the victory, keep your eye on the spot.
