Another 22-year old player, Dan Livingston, crashed onto the poker scene this past weekend, by winning the 2009/2010 WSOP Circuit $5,200 Buy-In Main Event and collecting a hefty first prize of $291,749! To claim this victory, the young Livingston had to outsmart a playing field of 248, including some of the most seasoned players on the poker scene.
His response?? “I feel really good. What was it? Forty hours of work for nearly $300,000! Not a bad pay day indeed, considering that the most he has won in poker prior to this, was $4,000 online.
Here are the rest of the results of the final table: 2nd: Tom Floros - $180,287 3rd: Chris Gentile - $119,556 4th: Tad Mosele - $84,594 5th: William Schweinebraten - $63,744 6th: William Miner - $50,871 7th: Joshua Goldstein - $42,881 8th: Jacob Bazeley - $38,082 9th: Michael Parisi - $35,533.

19 October 2009. 415 contenders, including some of the biggest names in poker, recently threw down the gauntlet for the latest prestigious WPT Bracelet at the 2009 WPT Marrakech €4,500 Championship Main Event. But, the honours were taken by Frenchman Christophe Savary, who has only been spotted at major poker tournaments since 2008.
Savary’s victory was no mean feat, as the playing field of this coveted poker tournament comprised the likes of Bertrand “ElKy” Grospellier; “The Magician” Antonio Esfandiari; David Benyamine; Huck Seed and two of poker’s most formidable ladies: Annette Obrestad and Liz Lieu. But Savary played a brilliant game throughout and most certainly deserved his hefty first prize of €377,262.
Heading into the final stages of play, Ludovic Lacay had a significant chip lead. But, the turning point came when Savary first hit a set on the flop and then rivered a boat, during which was described as “the biggest pot of the tournament.” Lacay could not recuperate from this loss and was shortly after eliminated in 3rd place, leaving Savary to go heads-up with Eoghan O’Dea. Savary’s luck persisted as he finally managed to crack O’Dea’s bullets with a straight.

To catch poker stars Jennifer Harman; “Kid Poker” Daniel Negreanu; Scotty Nguyen and “The Poker Brat” in a rather compromising position… be sure to get the latest edition of the ESPN Magazine called “The Body Issue” which hit the shelves last Friday. All four these players have stripped down to appear completely naked, for the sake of showing fans “a different side of the sports and the athletes they love,” as described by editor of the mag, Gary Belsky.
Described as an attempt to give the Sport’s Illustrated Swimwear publication a run for its money, the issue has six different covers, and features close to 80 of top sport luminaries and athletes from around the world. This includes the likes of tennis star Serena Williams; NASCAR driver Carl Edwards; the Olympic runner Lolo Jones; Australian surfer Clair Bevilacqua and many more.
Daniel Negreanu was apparently completely comfortable with baring it all, once he determined who else was joining the ranks. “It’s not like they were going to have Patrik Antonius or Gus Hansen there. I can fit in with this group,” he said.
