Neither shark nor fish respond well to getting an unexpected blow in poker and shark4life was surely no exception when he got badly beaten by Snick69. However, for shark4life that nasty feeling only lasted a few seconds before he realised that this hand set off an enormous Bad Beat Jackpot of more than R120 000, of which he received the lion’s share! The action went down this past weekend, on Saturday evening, a little before midnight to be exact, at Smashed Thumb, a R1/R2 No Limit Hold’em cash table.
There were six players seated at the table: Theosis; 0800-Fish; callgirl; shark4life; Snick69 and Jack_Russel. Theosis had the dealer button. 0800-Fish posted the small blind (R1.00) holding Ks-6c and callgirl posted the big blind (R2.00), holding As-5c. shark4life called for R2.00, holding a pair of ladies (Qc-Qh). Snick had 10-J suited (spades) and raised the stakes to R8.00. Jack-Russel; Theosis and 0800-Fish all folded, but callgirl and shark4life both called for R6.00.
When the flop showed Kh, 9s, Qd, callgirl and shark4life checked. Snick69, who by now had a straight, bet R14.00. callgirl backed out, but shark4life called. The turn flipped 8s, shark4life checked. When Snick69 bet R14.00, he called. When the board rivered a Queen of spades, giving shark4life a four-of-a-kind, he went all-in for R64.80, obviously thinking he had the nuts. To his great surprise though, Snick called for R10.80 and showed a straight flush!!
Fortunately for shark4life and all the other players at the table who were in (or even out) of the action at this point, this hand triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot, a jaw dropping stash of loot which was split amongst all of them as follows:
* 0800-Fish; callgirl, Jack-Russel and Theosis won a Bad Beat Amount of R7431.07 each, just for being part of the hand. * Snick69 who won the pot, won another great sum of R29724.29. * shark4life, who endured that wicked bad beat, won a cool R59448.58!!
So you see, at Piggs Peak Poker, it’s not always bad to be beaten!!

Piggs Peak Poker is happy to announce another recent bad beat jackpot has been struck! “Ned” confident his quadruple Aces would hold up, shoved the last of his chips in only to discover “jacksb” was the one with the monster hand… But as it turns out, Ned would have the last laugh.
Here’s what happened at the R2.00/R4.00 stakes “Dutch Courage” Table:
The aggressive Ned made an intimidating turn bet, holding trip Aces. Jacksb, who turned a spectacular Straight Flush, let Ned believe he had the upper hand and made the modest call. The River delivered Ned quad Aces, but this time jacksb was the aggressor.
Ned raised the pot significantly, jacksb however went All-In. Refusing to drop his quads, Ned made the call. The pot would go to jacksb, but the prize ended up going to Ned when the Bad Beat jackpot was triggered!
The jackpot paid out over R200.000 in prizes to all of the players seated at the table!
Ned received a staggering R 101,850.48 and Jacksb pocketed R 50,925.24, while “Bushjumper,” “BornBala,” and “Kyknet” (also seated at Dutch Courage) each received a R 16,975.08 prize for witnessing the action.
Everyone’s a winner at Piggs Peak, even the losers!

In poker, nothing can be worse than the cards not flipping in your favour and getting badly beaten right...?? Well... WRONG!! Last night the Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered here at Piggs Peak Poker again and one lucky player won a small fortune for taking that bad beat. Best of all is that everyone else that participated in the same hand, got more than their fair share of the loot too. Here’s how the action went down: 6 players sat down at Burn n Turn, a R1/R2 cash table and Lady Luck dealt them the following cards:
MethodMan: 7c-Kd electrolx 1: 4h-6h jcg: 5c-Ac illuminati: Kc-9c ELCAMINO: Qd- Qs johnny 1: Js-Ah
Preflop: jcg had the dealer button and iIluminati posted the small blind (R1.00). ELCAMINO posted the big blind (R2.00) and johnny1 called for R2.00. MethodMan folded. electrolx 1 raised for R10.00 and iIluminati; ELCAMINO and johnny1 called.
Flop: The flop showed a Qh-Jc-10c. iIluminati who now held a straight, bet R50.00. ELCAMINO went all-in for R50.05 with his 3-of-a-Kind. johnny1 and electrolx 1 folded. jcg then also went all-in for R15.48,hoping to hit a nut flush. iIluminati called the R0.05.
Turn and River: The board showed a 6s and another Qc. By now, ELCAMINO had to be very excited that he had a 4-of-a-Kind, Queens, but to his surprise, iIluminati showed down a Straight Flush, winning the pot!!
Fortunately ELCAMINO’s disappointment didn’t last long as the players realised this hand triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot of almost R200k, which was divided amongst all of them. This is how the stash of cash was split:
MethodMan, who had a balance of R190.65, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,303.52 electrolx 1, who had a balance of R331.68, also won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,303.52 jcg, who had a balance of zero, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12303.52 johnny 1 won a Bad Beat Amount of R12303.52 iIluminati who had a balance of R233.53, won a Bad Beat Amount of R49214.10
And ELCAMINO, who was on the receiving end of that nasty Bad Beat, won the largest portion of R98428.21!!

I think the whole structure of the bad beat should be changed as it is obviously favouring the smaller tables. Its easy to call draws when somebody goes in R50, but when the call is for R300 or R1000 it hardly gets done. Playing bigger tables is currently just a booster for small tables to cash big. My take anyway

Early this morning, at 1:24, at table Larry Mullen, ShaddUp suffered a Bad Beat that would most certainly render most poker players speechless. However, this particular hand triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot, and rewarded ShaddUp with a load more than R100k, just for taking that Bad Beat. Best of all is that the other 3 players that participated in the hand, each received a hefty share of the spoils too! This is how the action went down....
ultimoheat had the dealer button, holding 9h-Qh and Monkey_Tiltz posted the small blind of R10.00, holding 2h-6h. Sqeezer posted the big blind of R20.00, holding Qs-2d and ShaddUp raised for R80.00, holding snow men (pocket eights). Ultimoheat called, but both Monkey_Tiltz and Sqeezer folded.
When the board showed 8h-10h-5d-8s, ShaddUp must have surely thought he had the nuts with his quad eights, but still played it cool and simply checked. But by the time the river delivered a Jh, ShaddUp turned up the heat and went all-in for R2,106. To his surprise ultimoheat also went all-in for R895.00 and showed down a straight flush!!
Fortunately for ShaddUp that nasty feeling did not last long as the players soon realised that ShaddUp’s misfortune turned into good fortune for them all, as this hand activated the Progressive Bad Beat Jackpot. This is how the winnings were divided:
ShaddUp, who suffered the Bad Beat got the lion’s share of the loot as he won a cool R107391.06; ultimoheat, who had a balance of R3979.50 at the time won a Bad Beat Amount of R53695.53; Monkey_Tiltz, who had a balance of R4237.00 won a Bad Beat Amount of R26847.76; and Sqeezer, who had a balance of R3374.94 at the time also won Bad Beat amount of R26847.76.
Now what would YOU say if you suffered this kind of Bad Beat?? Click here to find out how you too can trigger the Bad Beat Jackpot at Piggs Peak Poker.

7 Fortunate players at Piggs Peak Poker got loaded big time with cash payouts of just over a quarter of a million rand when the Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered at R1.00/R2.00 Table Reloaded on Sunday afternoon, the 27th of September 2009. This is how the action went down...
unicorn47, who held an Ad-Jd had the Dealer Button and galvanize posted the small blind of R1.00, holding a 5c-4s. Reezo posted the big blind of R2.00, holding Jc-6h, but when SMJ raised the stakes to R8.00, (holding pocket tens); martian; OMG Jayswan; PoT_HeaD and spyker folded. Unicorn47 stuck to his guns can called, but galvanize and Reezo also folded, leaving SMJ and unicorn47 to go heads-up.
The flop brought 10d-Qd-3d. SMJ who now had trip tens, raised R18.00 and unicorn47 called. The turn showed a Kd and SMJ, went all in for R17.82 while unicorn47 followed suit. When the river showed a 10c, SMJ must have thought he had the nuts, holding quad tens. But great was his surprise when unicorn47 showed down a straight flush and took the pot!
Fortunately for SMJ that nasty bad beat feeling did not last long, as this hand triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot. And not only did all the players who formed part of the hand receive a handsome cash reward, but SMJ who suffered the Bad Beat- received a jaw-dropping cash prize of R126,057.73!!
This is how the rest of the Bad Beat Jackpot was split:

SMJ was beat on the flop. When the turn card was another diamond, what hands could he beat? But he still went all-in.
Maybe if SMJ pushed all-in on the river it could be considered a bad beat.

51mike has just found out that in poker, it is sometimes great to lose. In fact, 51mike has just received a cool R53,997.88 for being badly beaten! This is because the Bad Beat Jackpot struck again at table John Black, a R2/R4 No Limit Texas Hold’em table at Piggs Peak Poker. All the other players that participated in the hand, have each received several thousand bucks too!
51mike held Dimes (10-10) and must have thought he had the nuts when the flop showed 10-10-K, completing 4-of-a-Kind for him. When he confidently raised for R16.00, The-TuNa; aristocratic; BigGreenBong and Bolts folded, but PhahQ called with a set of Kings. The board then flipped K-J and to 51mike’s surprise, PhahQ finally showed down the higher 4-of-a-Kind!
Fortunately that nasty feeling you get when being badly beaten only lasted a few seconds before the players realised that they triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot. This is how much each one of these lucky players received:
The-TuNa, who had a balance of R81.45, won a Bad Beat Amount of R6749.73; aristocratic, who had a balance of R521.90, won a Bad Beat Amount of R6749.73; PhahQ, who had a balance of R306.60, won a Bad Beat Amount of R26998.94; BigGreenBong, who had a balance of R212.91, won a Bad Beat Amount of R6749.73; Bolts, who had a balance of R269.37, won a Bad Beat Amount of R6749.73.
And 51mike, who suffered the bad beat, received the biggest reward of R53997.88!! So you see, when playing at Piggs Peak Poker, there are times when you WANT to be beaten!

Almost R200k paid out in Bad Beat Jackpot at Piggs Peak Poker

Six players who were playing at Sherwood Forest, an R1.00/R2.00 table at Piggs Peak Poker Room, just got VERY VERY lucky. The Bad Beat Jackpot was unexpectedly triggered during one of their hands and paid out a stunning R200k which was shared amongst all of them. And of course, the player who got badly beaten, got the largest share of the loot! This is how the action went down…
_Franco_ bet out holding a suited Hunting Season (A-2). Paulie10 raised to R7.00, holding pocket Dimes (tens). adio folded and lindie007 folded, but HUGaBunny who was on the Small Blind; called for R6.00, holding Snowmen (pair of eights). Ogri called for R5.00 from the Big Blind and _Franco_ called again for R5.00.
The flop brought 10c-8c-8d. By then Paulie10 had a fullhouse 10's full of 8's and HUGaBunny held 4-of-a-Kind, eights. All the players nevertheless checked.
The turn then showed another 10s, giving Paulie a 4-of-a-Kind, tens. By then, one expected to see the sparks fly, but once again, everyone checked.
But when the board rivered a Jh, HUGaBunny bet R14.00, obviously thinking that he holds the nuts with his 4-of-a-Kind, eights. Paulie10 then went All-In for R210.59. _Franco_ and Ogri both folded, but HUBaBunny called and went All-In too for R177.00.
HUGaBunny received a very unpleasant surprise though when Paulie10 showed down the higher 4-of-a-Kind and won the pot! Fortunately that awful Bad Beat feeling did not last long before the players realised that they activated the Bad Beat Jackpot- giving every player a handsome reward, just for being part of the hand.
This is how the winnings were split:
Ogri, who had a balance of R230.64, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,358.02 _Franco_, who had a balance of a mere R28.58, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,358.02 Paulie10, who had a balance of R408.59, won a Bad Beat Amount of R49, 432.08 adio, who had a balance of R52.55, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12358.02 lindie007 who had a balance of R509.42, won a Bad Beat Amount of R12,358.02
HUGaBunny won an incredible R98, 964.17, just for taking the bad beat!
Once again, we’ve proven that at Piggs Peak Poker, it is not always bad to be badly beaten.

Two 4-of-a-Kinds triggers the Bad Beat Jackpot

How often do you see a 4-of-a-Kind? Well, at Piggs Peak Poker we often see not one, but two 4-of-a-Kind’s during one hand. This is exactly why the Bad Beat Jackpot gets triggered so frequently. And it happened again last night to six lucky players who were seated at a R1/R2 Table called Grisham.
When the game kicked off, 540823 must have thought that Lady Luck was on his side. First he was dealt two ladies (Qh-Qs), and then the flop showed Qc-Ah-Qd, giving him a 4-of-a-Kind. However, he played it cool, simply checked and only started raising the stakes by the turn, which delivered another As. But by the time the board rivered a 7h, he went All-In for R167.00. Great was his surprise though when ALPHA-MALE called and flipped over two Aces to make up the higher 4-of-a-Kind!
Fortunately the bad taste that such a bad beat would normally leave in one’s mouth did not last long at all. This is because the hand triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot, compensating 540823 with the greatest portion of the loot and rewarding the other five players who participated in the hand with much more than they bargained for too.
This is how the Bad Beat Jackpot was split: Zanzie, who had a balance of R162.09, won a Bad Beat Amount of R2756.24 540823, who suffered the Bad Beat was rewarded with a handsome R22049.93 ALPHA-MALE, who took the pot got another fat prize of R11024.96 AFlush, who had a balance of R108.00, won a Bad Beat Amount of R2756.24 TheBatman, who had a balance of R78.90, won a Bad Beat Amount of R2756.24 bklacke, who had a balance of a mere R41.46 left, got a hefty bankroll again with his share of R2756.24.
So if you think that the odds of hitting a 4-of-a-kind are'nt great.….. think again!

Skywalker wins R35k for being badly beaten

A few hours after Earth Hour, on Saturday the 28th of March 2009, six players here at Piggs Peak Online Poker Room experienced an unexpected Winning Hour. It all happened at Table John Black, a R2/R4 table, when one of the hands triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot of more than R70,000, which was shared by all of the players that participated in the game. This is how the action went down….
Roadrunner had the dealer button and nivage posted the small blind of R2.00, holding 2d-3c. Bumshot posted the big blind of R4.00, holding pocket 8’s. pidepiper reckoned his bullets (Ac-Ad) gave him the edge and raised the stakes to R16.00. Skywalker was convinced that his pair of ladies (Qc-Qh) meant that Lady Luck was on his side and he went All-In for R96.30. bandit26 quickly folded his suited 7d-3d, and Roadrunner followed suit with his 4c-5c, also suited. But bumshot felt his pair still deserved a chance and he called nevertheless. And when pidepiper raised the bet further, to R160.60, bumshot called again.
The flop delivered an amazing result, when it showed a Qd-As-Ah. Bumshot merely checked, holding a 2-pair. Although pidepiper now had a 4-of-a-Kind, he slowplayed and simply checked too. Skywalker most probably thought that he had the nuts with his Full House, Queens full of Aces.
The turn brought a Kc, which didn’t make a difference to anyone’s hand and both bumshot and pidepiper checked.
When the board rivered another Qs, Skywalker must have definitely thought that he had the upper hand, with his four queens. But great was his dismay when pidepiper showed down the higher 4-of-a-Kind with his Aces, taking the pot and winning R428.43!
Fortunately that feeling of being badly did not last long, as the players realised that they triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot. And Skywalker received the biggest share of the loot, for taking that bad beat. This is how the money was split: Roadrunner, who had a balance of R320.99, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4394.88. nivage, who had a balance of R58.63, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4394.88 bumshot, who had a balance of R263.30, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4394.88 pidepiper, who had a balance of R645.07, won a Bad Beat Amount of R17579.52 Skywalker, who had a balance of R12709, won a Bad Beat Amount of R35159.05 bandit26, who had a balance of R321.83, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4394.88.
Not bad for a R2/R4 table hey?

Lights Camera Action… and there was plenty of action at this R3/R6 stakes cash game table as six unsuspecting players each won a share of more than R100,000!! This happened last night at Piggs Peak Poker when HeavyHand; Impimpi; mjk14; TightPlay; LollyMan and Kaizer were seated to play at this No Limit Hold’em Poker Cash Table.
LollyMan had the dealer button. Kaizer, who held 10-6 suited posted the small blind of R3.00 and HeavyHand posted the big blind with his 3-8, also suited. Impimpi folded his 7d-9h; and mjk14 who held 3d-8s followed suit. TightPlay played his pocket ladies (Qd-Qc) hard and raised the stakes considerably for R24.00. Kaizer folded and LollyMan who held a pair of Cowboys (Kc-Kh) of course took the challenge and called for R24.00. HeavyHand backed out and folded.
Things took an interesting turn when the board flopped Qh-Kd-6d. TightPlay, who now had a set of Queens, bet R26.00, not knowing that LollyMan held the higher three-of-a kind. LollyMan of course called. When the turn brought a Ks, TightPlay (who was not playing so tight), bet another R58.00, which of course, LollyMan called again.
Surprisingly though, the river brought another Qs, giving both players a Four-of-a-Kind. TightPlay, obviously thinking he had the winning hand, bet R112.25, but LollyMan still did not back off and went All-In for R86.50. To TightPlay’s surprise, LollyMan showed down a higher Four-of-a-Kind, winning the pot of R384.14.
But although being the recipient of such a Bad Beat must have left a bad taste in TightPlay’s mouth, that unpleasant feeling fortunately did not last long. The players almost immediately realised that this game triggered the Bad Beat Jackpot, which means that everyone who participated in the game were richly rewarded, while the person who got badly beaten, won the most! This is how the loot was split:
HeavyHand won a Bad Beat Amount of R6458.82 Impimpi won a Bad Beat Amount of R6458.82 mjk14 won a Bad Beat Amount of R6458.82 TightPlay won a stunning Bad Beat Amount of R51670.56 LollyMan won a Bad Beat Amount of R25835.28, Kaizer won a Beat Amount of R6458.82.
So you see, a Bad Beat does not have to bad at all, when you’re playing at Piggs Peak Poker, the only poker room in the Southern Hemisphere that offers a Bad Beat Jackpot.

Four players at Piggs Peak Poker split jackpot of R57,268,12

. Four unsuspecting players, TheVon; boxer; blanding and raising_ray who were playing a cash game on table “The Edge” at Piggs Peak Poker Room last night, received a very pleasant surprise. A Bad Beat occurred during one of their hands, which triggered a Bad Beat Jackpot of R57,268,12, which was split four ways! The player who was the most astonished though, was raising_ray, who was on the receiving end of the Bad Beat, but nevertheless collected the greatest portion of the Bad Beat Jackpot!
raising_ray had the dealer button. TheVon posted the small blind of R10.00, holding 10s-Ac. blandy who held 9d-10d, raised for R80.00, and got called by raising_ray who was holding 4d-5d. TheVon also called for R70.00, but boxer folded.
The board flopped 8d-6d-7d. TheVon checked, blandy, who by now had a straight flush 9d-10d slow played & checked too. raising_ray, who also held a straight flush, 4d-5d, also checked. The turn brought a 3d, TheVon simply checked, and blandy and raising_ray followed suit.
When the river showed a 6c, TheVon was drawing dead and simply checked again. blandy now turned on the heat by betting R129.75, but raising_ray who obviously thought he had the nuts, raised for R324.37. TheVon naturally folded. blandy however, not only took the challenge, but also raised the stakes by going all-in for R631.92. raising_ray obviously called (who wouldn’t when holding a straight flush), but to his surprise blandy showed the higher straight flush and took the pot!
Now although it is really unpleasant for any poker player to be on the receiving end of such a Bad Beat, raising_ray’s disappointment fortunately did not last long, as the players realised that this hand set off the Bad Beat Jackpot. And when the Bad Beat Jackpot is triggered at Piggs Peak Poker, all the players who participated in the hand receive a share, whilst the player who suffered the Bad Beat, receives the most. This is how the winnings were split: TheVon and boxer won R9,541.38 each; blandy won R19,082.76 and raising_ray received a stunning amount of R38,165.53! Not bad for a bad beat hey??
Piggs Peak Poker is the only African poker room that offers a Bad Beat Jackpot.

Some poker players are elated to be at the receiving end of a Bad Beat…. Sounds ridiculous? Well, not if you’re playing at Piggs Peak Poker Room, the only online poker room that rewards players generously for suffering a Bad Beat. And this weekend, seven more players can attest that….
The action took place at Star Wars table, where Lordclaude; KH01; Snowdrop; Alnilam; Julestar; 0800-Fish and Headspace were playing an R2.00/R4.00 Pot Limit Hold’em Game. Lordclaude was on the button. KH01, who held 10h-9h posted the small blind of R2.00. Snowdrop posted the big blind of R4.00, holding a 7s-10s. Alnilam; Julestar and 0800-Fish folded. Headspace raised for R8.00, holding pocket nines. Lordclaude called for R8.00, holding J-Birds, and Snowdropped folded.
The flop showed a 2c-Jd-Qh. KH01 who was on an open ended draw for a straight flush, played it tight and simply checked. Headspace went all-in for R26.78 and both Lordclaude and KH01 made the call. The turn brought that Kh that KH01 needed to complete a straight flush. However, he continued to slowplay and simply checked. Lordclaude who now had a 3-of-a-kind, bet R8.00. By then KH01 turned up the heat a bit and raised for R65.92. Lordclaude called again.
When the board rivered a Jh, to give Lordclaude a Four-of-a-Kind, he must have though he had the upper hand and therefore went all in for R98.80. However, to his surprise, KH01 called and showed down a straight flush, winning the pot of R423.14! Now although this would seriously hurt under normal circumstances, Lordclaude and all of the active players received a pleasant surprise, as the Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered with this hand. This means that everyone who participated in the game, got a percentage of the winnings, and Lordclaude, who suffered the Bad Beat, won the most! This is how the bounty was split:
Headspace who was down and out won a Bad Beat Amount of R4057.89. Lordclaude who had a balance of R16.97, won a grande anount of R40578.98, for taking that Bad Beat! KH01 who had R423.14 left, won R20289.49. Snowdrop, whose balance was on R308.27, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4057.89. Alnilam, who had R357.80 left on his account, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4057.89. Julestar, who had R634.74 remaining, won a Bad Beat Amount of R4057.89. 0800-Fish, who had R490.35, also won a Bad Beat Amount of R4057.89.
So you see, when playing at Piggs Peak Poker, it does not have to be bad to be badly beaten...!!

The Second Season of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour has concluded and Australian Martin Rowe has emerged with the tournament title and a $1,000,000 AUS cash prize. Some of the poker scene’s most feared players were amongst the 477-player field. Peter Eastgate, Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker and many more were present but none made it to the final table.
Rowe was head’s up against Jason Gray for the tournament title, here’s what happened in the final hand: Rowe called Gray, when he pushed all-in over the top pre-flop. The As, Qc, 5s, flop gave Gray 9h, 5h a pair of fives and Rowe a two pair with his Ac, Qh. The board showed 9s, 3s and Gray had lost. He went home with a consolation prize of $476,000 AUD.

Bad Beat Jackpot triggered yet again!
29 September 2008. If you ever thought that once the jackpot is hit it will take a while before it hits again, then think again. Last night just before midnight at Piggs Peak Poker, the Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered once more, for the third time in less than one week!
The Bad Beat Jackpot, one of its kind only offered at Piggs Peak Poker room, is a progressive jackpot, where everyone that participates in the hand wins, and the person who got badly beaten gains the most. Every time that it goes off, it resets to a minimum amount and further accumulates with every wager placed by every single player that participates at Bad Beat Jackpot tables only. This means that the winnings can often amass to jaw dropping totals.
The players who were at the receiving end of much more than their money’s worth this time around, were Clever1; 2Putt; fish777; Pauljay; Durrrr and Googi, who were playing a 2.00/4.00 Hold’em game at table John Black.
Durrrr had the dealer button. Googi posted the small blind of R2.00, holding 5d-9d. Clever1 placed the big blind of R4.00 holding a Qs-Js and 2Putt called with 9s-Kd. Fish777 folded and Pauljay called, holding 8h-10h. Durrrr then folded his 6d- 5c as well.
When the flop showed Jh-Jc-9h, Googi checked. Although Clever1 now had trip Jacks he still slowplayed and checked too. 2Putt bet R8.00, and was called by Pauljay. Googi then folded, and Clever1 called.
The turn brought another J-d, by now giving Clever1 the nuts with his formidable hand of Four-of-a-Kind. In spite, Clever1 checked. 2Putt bet R16.00, and both Pauljay and Clever1 followed suit.
When the river miraculously brought that 7h that Pauljay needed to complete a straight flush, he went all in for R277,70. Clever1 took the challenge though and went all in too for R295,52. 2Putt who by now merely had a pair of nines, decided to back off and folded.
Although Clever1’s excellent hand was busted by a hand that is rarely seen around the tables, he certainly did not finish at the short end. For being badly beaten, Clever1 received the largest portion of the Bad Beat Jackpot and all the other players also received a substantial amount just for participating. Let’s take a look at what they won in relation to what they invested in the hand: Clever1 who had a balance of just R17.82, won a Bad Beat Amount of R13327.92, 2Putt who had a balance of R240.50 won a Bad Beat Amount of R1665.99, fish777 who had a balance of R114.00 won a Bad Beat Amount of R1665.99, Pauljay who had a balance of R624.64 won a Bad Beat Amount of R 6663.96, Durrrr who had a balance of R690.66 won a Bad Beat Amount of R1665.99, Googi who had a balance of R281.52 won a Bad Beat Amount of R1665.99.

Two renowned online poker sharks, Isaac Haxton and Shaun Deeb finished deep in the WSOPE Event #1, $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em during this past weekend, remaining under the 90 players who entered Day 2. With a playing field of more than 400, the kick off of this 2008 World Series of Poker Europe event, looked a little like the whose who in the poker world. Some of the big guns, who were sent to the rails on Day 1 already, were former WSOPE Main Event Champion Annette Obrestad and runner up John Tabatabai; Mike “The Mouth” Matusow; John “The Razor” Phan; Poker Brat Phil Hellmuth; Jennifer Tilly; and Howard Lederer.
Although illustrating excellent play throughout, luck ran out for these online poker stars, as they were finally busted on the second day, alongside more poker celebrities such as Daniel Negreanu; Michael Binger and Erik Seidel. With only nine players left, the final table has now been set and will proceed today, with chip counts and seating arrangements as follows:
In Seat #1: Fuad Serhan enters with 61,000 chips In Seat #2: Daniel Nutt enters with 207,000 chips In Seat #3: Yevgeniy Timoshenko enters with 345,000 chips In Seat #4: John Dwyer enters with 511,000 chips In Seat #5: Ian Woodley enters with 153,000 chips In Seat #6: Jesper Hougaard enters with 89,000 chips In Seat #7: Linda Lee enters with 121,000 chips In Seat #8: Neil Channing enters with 199,000 chips In Seat #9: Adam Junglen enters as chip leader with his 795,000 chips.

Bad Beat topples again!!!

The only thing better than winning at poker… is losing at poker!
22 Sep 2008. For meager stakes of R2/R4, five very fortunate online poker players raked in much more than what they bargained for: a lion’s share of almost R170,000! The pleasantly surprised players triggered the Progressive Bad Beat Jackpot on Sunday night, when playing No Limit Texas Hold’em at Table Stefano at Piggs Peak Poker Room, the only online poker room that offers a Bad Beat Jackpot for those who play in the Rand Common Monetary Area.
This is how the action went down: Durrrr; Slauterman; kknight; Impimpi; Sushi and QueenHigh were seated at the table. Sushi who held 10c-8c had the dealer button and QueenHigh sat out. Durr called R2.00, holding Ah-7d and Slautermann raised to R4.00 with his 8s-2s. kknight called with pocket Jacks and Impimpi folded. Sushi then raised to R24.00, after which Durrrr and Slauterman folded, and kknight called for R20.00.
The flop turned in Sushi’s favour, with 7c-Jc-9c for a straight flush, giving him the upper hand over kknight’s Three-of-a-Kind. Sushi simply checked nevertheless, while kknight followed suit. When the turn showed a 5h, kknight bet R24.00 and Sushi continued to slowplay by simply calling. His luck continued when the board rivered a Jh. kknight however, banked on the strength of his hand and went all in for R217.68. Sushi called and much to his surprise, kknight’s Four-of-a-Kind was busted by Sushi’s straight flush!
Fortunately for kknight, as well as the other players participating in the hand, being beaten badly at Piggs Peak Poker Room, does not mean that you come out on the short end…. What none of them counted on, was that a pot to the size of R537,36 would instantly increase to just under R170,000! Aligned with the Progressive Bad Beat Jackpot ratio, this handsome pot was split as follows:
- Durrrr - R14163,52 - Slauterman - R14163,52 - kknight - R84981,12 - Impimpi - R14163,52 - Sushi - R42490,56.
We bet QueenHigh truly regrets sitting out and kknight never felt so good about being defeated!
Now although this scenario could appear highly unusual in a conservative poker environment, this is exactly what you can expect when playing the Progressive Bad Beat Jackpot at the popular Piggs Peak Poker Room. The value of the jackpot increases with every wager of every single player who participates. Whenever the jackpot is triggered, 20% is used to seed the next jackpot, 10% is paid over to the poker room and the remaining 70% is split amongst the players who partook in the hand. 25% of those winnings are split amongst all the players who were in on the hand, 25% goes to the winner and the loser gets the majority of 50%!
This means that everyone wins something, while the loser is the greatest winner of all! So, get your share of the poker action at Piggs Peak Poker Room where you have so little to lose but so much to gain and click here to start playing the Progressive Bad Beat Jackpot now!
